Job Description:   . Main Activities Follow the Councilís CCTV Code of Practice. Operate and monitor the CCTV equipment including the recording devices and video printing equipment, operating controls as necessary, in order to move camera position to cover full viewing range of cameras. Operate and use all equipment in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with the guidance and instructions given; not to misuse, falsify, corrupt, improperly dispose of, or otherwise compromise the integrity of recorded images, data, or records Using intelligence data provided by the Police, local shops, Council employees and others to monitor actual and potential problem areas and activities Be pro-active in searching for any criminal activity, anti-social behaviour or unsafe activity. Keep close surveillance and make detailed notes of any such activity observed. Alert the relevant emergency services, normally the Police via the direct telephone line and by passing them the picture from the relevant camera, and Council officers to incidents in line with laid down procedures. Continue to monitor incidents. Carry out instructions in relation to incidents in line with the Code of Practice. Provide intelligence information to the Police, Council Officers or other authorized organizations on data subjects or areas as requested in line with procedures. Carry out reviews of recordings as requested by authorized individuals or organizations making still, video or digital copies as required making sure to maintain the evidence trail and complete the relevant paperwork Regularly provide evidence statements for the police and other authorities and appear in court to give evidence, as required. Change and remove camera recording medium as required following laid down procedures. Report any faults/defects of equipment in accordance with laid down procedures. Carry out minor repairs under instructions from a competent person. Ensure accurate entries are made in all CCTV Monitoring Room documentation as instructed following laid down procedures. Operate and/or centrally control the Council, Shoplink and Police radio receiving and transmission equipment as required to pass and receive clear and accurate information. Ensure the security of information from the CCTV Monitoring Room in line with the Data Protection Act, Council policy and Police radio procedure 2. General Be conversant with and carry out CCTV activities and operations in order to be compliant with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, Human rights Legislation and the Data Protection Act as well as any other similar legislation that may come into being. Submit written and verbal reports to senior officers. Undertake clerical work as allocated by the Line Manager, Comply with Council\'s Health and Safety instructions. Uphold and further the Councilís equal opportunities and customer care policies Deal with complaints and queries in accordance with departmental procedures. Maintain knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, appropriate legislation, Council Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and Departmental instructions, guidance, Codes of practice and other similar information as required by the level of the post Give guidance to relief and temporary members of staff in the procedures to be followed in line with the post. The above-mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the postholder may be required to carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required by the Chief Officer within the grading level of the post and the competence of the postholder. Condition of Service Work a rotating shift system to provide a 24-hour, 365-day cover for the Councils Communications Centre.
